Glade Creek Grist Mill ~ West Virginia |
Oil painting of mill in winter |
Except during the winter, flour is ground in the mill each Saturday for tourists, and sold in paper bags printed with recipes for Sweeten’ Corn Pone, Hush Puppies, and Buckwheat Cakes! I was impressed with the ruggedness of Glade Creek. The oil painting contrasts the massive boulders along the mill race with powderpuffs of snow on the smallest twig. May the winter lace of tree shadows in the oil painting and the snowladened evergreen by the water's edge bring the peace of yesteryear into your home. |
